MEXICO’S ALVARO ORTIZ FINISHES 2ND AT LATIN AMERICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Alvaro Ortiz of Guadalajara, Mexico, who finished in second place Sunday at the 2017 Latin America Amateur Championship!

Ortiz, the younger brother of PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour player Carlos Ortiz, concluded the 72-hole tournament tied for the lead with eventual winner Toto Gana of Chile and Joaquin Niemann also from Chile, but eventually fell on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.

In September, Alvaro Ortiz finished tied for 23rd place at the World Amateur Team Championship which was held at Mayakoba. In November, Carlos Ortiz tied for 55th place at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, where he competed for the third consecutive year.

Over the past 10 years, the OHL Classic at Mayakoba has donated more than $2 million dollars to philanthropic causes, positively affecting the communities of Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Once again this year, the call is open to organizations operating in Quintana Roo to join forces with the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and get involved.
