When we think about the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, we think about the importance of the PGA TOUR, the spectacular El Cameleón Golf Couse, and the award-winning Mayakoba, but most of the time we set apart the culinary experiences of the resort. One of the most important pillars of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba is the gourmet side of golf. Throughout the year, Mayakoba and the Mayakoba Hotels host a series of exceptional culinary events.

Banyan Tree

Banyan Tree Mayakoba invites you to its second edition of “Thai Food Festival 2017” from August 24th-27th. Banyan Tree will host passionate Thai food chefs and good wine, where you will be able to enjoy a few relaxing days, at the place where ancient civilizations meet and where nature and Mexico´s passion have the slight touch of the Far East.

For information or reservations please contact FBService-Mayakoba@banyantree.com or call +52.984.877.3688 ext 7222.

CURRENT PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS & THE OHL CLASSIC AT MAYAKOBA

Some history is being made on the PGA TOUR so far this season and those making it have competed at the OHL Classic at one point during the past three years.

When Xander Schauffele won the Greenbrier Classic, he became the eighth player under age 25 to win on the PGA TOUR this season, the most dating to 1970 when the TOUR began compiling complete records. That also makes 12 victories this season — just over one-third of all PGA TOUR events — by players who have yet to turn 25.

Six of those eight players have competed in the OHL Classic, including Schauffele (age 23), who finished tied for 60th this past November. Others include Spaniard Jon Rahm (age 22), who has played the OHL Classic at Mayakoba three times with his best finish a tie for 10th in 2015; Justin Thomas (age 23), who finished tied for 23rd in 2015; Si Woo Kim (age 21), who was tied for 17th in 2015; Daniel Berger (age 24), who tied for 51st in 2014 and Cameron Smith (age 23), who played last year and was tied for 42nd.

Another interesting trend to notice so far, this year is the number of players who played in November’s OHL Classic, who have won after competing in Playa del Carmen during this 2016-2017 PGA TOUR season.

Eight players form this group and include Hudson Swafford (CareerBuilder Challenge), Rahm (Farmers Insurance Open, PGA TOUR & Irish Open, European Tour), Adam Hadwin (Valspar Championship), Marc Leishman (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard), Wesley Bryan (RBC Heritage), Brian Harman (Wells Fargo Championship), Billy Horschel (AT&T Byron Nelson), Kyle Stanley (Quicken Loans National) and Schauffele (Greenbrier Classic).
